Collection: New England axe handles

This was my first handle pattern, and it is still my favorite. I have been making small changes to it over the years. It most closely resembles the X / New England pattern from the old J. M. Tatem catalog. This workhorse is a great all-around handle for both chopping and splitting and will handle heavier heads. We produce these in 28" boys with a 2 ¼" x ¾" eye and 28", 30" and 32" lengths with 13/16" x 2 ½" eye. These handles measure ¾" thick through the middle, and have a tall eye suitable for Tasmanian heads.
