Collection: Scout axe handles

My parents got me a hatchet when I was ten. I happily spent hours chipping away at a stand of bigtooth aspen in the abandoned field behind our house. I “outgrew” that hatchet and erroneously came to believe that small hatchets were not important in the grand scheme of things. Recently my grandson was in the shop looking at all the axes, and we got to talking. I soon remembered that small hatchets were quite important. We decided that a 14" handle was right for the Plumb National head we picked out. His mother quipped “the perfect gift for the accident prone child”. This prompted our most recent patterns. My grandson still retains all his fingers and toes and is so far stitch-free. These are available  in 12, 14 and 16" lengths with 5/8" x 1 ¾" eye. These all sapwood handles were inspired from a NOS hatchet handle and have a square ended knob to be trimmed to a faun’s foot. One poplar and one cherry wedge are included with each scout handle.
